Usually EstYES collects volunteers either in the bus Terminal in Tallinn or in the office the day camp begins. Here they meet camp leader, and travel all together to the camp’site.

EST 22 SANNA CULTURE MANOR II VORU 14.08 - 25.08 MANU 6 vols
Project
Sanna is a sparsely populated village typical for Southern Estonia. There is an old manor house in the center of village where NGO Sanna Culture Manor is located. Organization works since summer 2009. Sanna Culture Manor arranges art and culture events, workshops, seminars, courses and retreats. Essential emphasis is drawn upon sustainable living and environmental protection. This offers people alternative tourism with local ecological food and hiking in Sanna manor park hiking trails. The manor was built in 1586 and it is a unique and beautiful wooden building surrounded by an ancient park and the clear water Parlijogi (Pearl River). NGO Sanna Culture Manor has begun the renovation of the manor in cooperation with Rouge Local Authorities. As of autumn 2009 the village club rooms were renovated and furnished with traditional broadlooms, sewing appliances, full kitchen, volunteers’ apartments, and carpenters workshop with appliances for traditional and modern woodwork. It is the second year Sanna Culture Manor in cooperation with EstYES invites international volunteers to help with several works as well as to meet artists, experience various workshops and help preparing and running local activities.
Work
The work will include building a hiking trail, cleaning manor park. Renovation of rooms in the manor with natural materials and paints will also be part of the work as well. Also work in Sanna organic garden - watering, weeding, planting – is planned. The working day is 6 -7 hours, mainly outdoors.
Accommodation
In the manor house, bunk-bed room for volunteers. Bed linens are provided, toilet and shower available. All meals will be prepared by host organisation members and volunteers together.
Location
Sanna is a small village (with around 80 inhabitants) located in Voru county in southern part of Estonia. The closest town is Voru (20 km). The whole area has a beautiful nature and many heritage sites. This region is known for its bumpy hills and thick primeval forests with wild nature. Houses are located far away from each other so that they are not visible to each other as Estonians have always loved peace and privacy. Special requirements
The volunteers just have to be aware that the camp will take place in a very small village! Please bring working clothes and gloves and proper shoes for working. Camp language is English.
Leisure time
On site volunteers can take part in the workshops and get acquainted with the work of artists. Camp is very suitable for nature lovers - there is beautiful nature which provides peace and harmony, Pearl River flowing through the village and several lakes are good refreshing place in summer. Traditional smoke sauna next to the river is available. Modern-traditional hot tub is situated next to the river giving beautiful view while enjoying hot and relaxing water in wooden tub. Sport activities - volleyball and crocket. Old bicycles which have been collected from local surroundings and renovated by local youth are available in Sanna bicycle workshop with the opportunity to try ride freak-bikes which have been made in Sanna by Latvian metal art designers. Bicycle trips will be organised.
Participation fee
Due to difficult economic situation this year and the lack of financial support for the project the participation fee of 40 Euro is requested from volunteers to cover the costs of board and leisure activities. It has to be paid by volunteers upon arrival to the camp.

 

EST 25 CULTURE FACTORY FESTIVAL TALLINN 19.08 - 28.08 RENO/ FEST

Project
In the buildings of a former Soviet rubber plant Polymer NGO Culture Factory is developing an environment for workshops for artists and musicians, cultural events, youth activities etc. The former industrial spaces are being renovated for new uses as exhibition and concert halls, dancing, theatre and visual arts studios, cultural, youth and leisure activities. This year Culture Factory in cooperation with EstYES invites international volunteers to help renovation works in the former factory continuing its transformation into alternative cultural centre as well as to meeting artists, get experience with various workshops and help preparing and running annual alternative art festival.
The Culture Factory is a member of the international Trans Europe Halles Network, an organisation uniting similar centers allover Europe. More information on www.teh.net and www.kultuuritehas.ee
Work
As the factory buildings have stood derelict for years, lots of cleaning-up has to be done. Be ready for the hard and dirty work! It will be some renovation works, painting, fixing windows, cleaning, putting up furniture etc. but also jobs linked to the festival - like preparation/ decoration of the rooms, putting exhibitions, transporting stuff, etc. The work will normally last 7 hours a day.
Seven people will be required for the duration for above mentioned tasks. Besides, one photographer is needed to capture the Festival activities and feed text and images on our website and Facebook throughout the Festival. A catalogue of previous works will be required with the application.
Accommodation
Volunteers will live in the factory building, where they will share a big room for living and equipped kitchen for preparing own meals. Toilets and showers are available in the factory. Beds, mattresses and linens will be provided, so there is no need to bring sleeping bags.
Location
Tallinn is the capital of Estonia. You can get a lot of information on Tallinn on www.tallinn.ee and www.visitestonia.com. The Culture Factory is situated quite in the centre of Tallinn within walking distance (20 min) to mediaeval old town, museums, pubs with intensive nightlife, etc.

Leisure time
On site volunteers are welcome to take part in the festival and get acquainted with the work of artists and artisans. You can get involved in the other workshops time allowing. During the camp Culture Factory will run the traditional festival, so a lot of cultural activities and parties are foreseen: theater, cinema, art, performances, music. Besides, there are a lot of possibilities for leisure time activities since camp takes place in Tallinn - European Culture Capital 2011, where one can find attractions for all tastes: sightseeing and museums, festivals, concerts, live music, pubs, etc. This camp provides an excellent opportunity to establish contacts with young Estonian artists.
Participation fee
Since EstYES neither its camp partner NGO Culture Factory does not receive sufficient financial support for this camp from municipality nor from private sources we have to charge participants an extra fee of 60 Euro. It has to be paid by volunteers upon arrival to the camp, and it is to cover costs of materials as well as cultural activities.
