International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the UN General Assembly that in 2001 decide that 21 September would be observed annually as a “day of global ceasefire and non-violence". Volunteers’ Centre Zagreb, taking into consideration the successful action organized last year to celebrate “International Day of Peace”, aims to involve international volunteers in the promotional campaign to celebrate this day and spread out its meaning through different activities (information to citizens pasting promotion posters in the streets of Zagreb, public final event).
W: Volunteers, in cooperation with local volunteers will spread out information and delivery promotional materials as posters and gadgets, speak with people in the streets of Zagreb informing them about the International Day of Peace and make a graffito about peace to fix a permanent message of peace, help in the organization of final event (film projection, little concert…)
S: Thematic workshop about International Day of Peace (history, meaning, etc.)
A: to be defined. Volunteer will be probably host in a student dormitory
T: Zagreb, Croatian capital city
X: We are looking for volunteers with artistic skills (Graffiti artists)- Please specify in the application. Not accessible to wheelchairs.
