VIMEX WORKCAMP PROGRAM

VIMEX30 Turtles Marquelia, Guerrero 02.01 -16.01.12 Envi 18 15 vols.
Participation Fee: 160 Euros
CAMP DETAILS: From 8 species of sea turtles in the earth, 7 of them arrive to Mexican coasts. Several factors make the turtles are in danger of extinction, then, we have a very strong commitment with the turtles protection as well as other ecosystems. WORK: Doing conservation tasks, collecting the turtle eggs, sedding them in artificial nests; making census and taking samples of the nests, picking up and carrying nests; patrolling the beach during night in order to protect the turtles that arrive to deposit eggs, doing data registered and liberating newborn turtles babies. During the day you can clean the Bocana beach. Another task is that you will teach local children English. They are motivated to learn.

LOCATION: Marquelia, Guerrero State is located at 9 hours by bus from Mexico City ACCOMODATION: In a turtle camp in tents (there are no beds so you will sleep on the sand) or in a bungalow with good facilities, water, ligth, w.c., kitchen. The volunteers will clean the house and cook by themselves.
FOOD: Meals will be prepared by the volunteers
LANGUAGE: Any. Some knowledge of Spanish will provide a richer experience but is not necessary. People from the region are very friendly.
REQUIREMENTS: Good disposition to the team work, dedication, be responsible, an excellent health condition. Bring your own insurance. Please note and be aware that this work is at night !!!. Please bring your own air mattress and sleeping bag. Photo camera or video camera, sun blocker of 80-100 units. A hat, sunglasses and your personal items of hygiene.
HOW TO ARRIVE: From VIMEX office the volunteers will go to the project.
FREE TIME: Visits to close beautiful and interesting places and beaches, play volleyball, board games. You can visit the Marquelia River, streams that end to the sea like the "Arroyo Seco" y el "Arroyo de Tila", it has 5 beautiful beaches like " La Bocana", "Las Peñitas", "Barra de Tecoanapa", "Barra de Tila" and "Playa Tortuga". As well as two small lagoons like the "Bocana", and "Barra de Tecoanapa" and a wonderful cascade "El Chorro" The volunteers could do activities with the community such as for the children and youngsters from the community.
COMMENT: You can take the Intensive Spanish Course that we offer to the volunteers in our camps before to go to your camp. See the information and conditions at the section of the Spanish Courses 2011. The meeting point will be at the VIMEX office before the camp starts because all the volunteers will go together to the project .
